Four Men and a Dog is an Irish traditional band that emerged in 1990 during the Belfast Folk Festival. The band plays Irish traditional music with a mixture of different other genres, including rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass, swing, salsa, polka and even rap. To say they are high-energy is an understatement. I can say they are the most popular of the groups we have brought in over all these years.

4 Men and a Dog melds traditional Irish melodies with everything from country swing to jazz and even rap.Their live shows are spontaneous and hilarious. The group has left crowds laughing in Ireland, across Europe and this summer in only two cities in North America. Calgary is one.

Gerry O'Connor is known as "the best banjo player in the history of Irish Music" {Washington Post}, but he also picks up a fiddle from time to time.

Cathal Hayden, one of the finest fiddlers in Ireland, left the group Arcady to join 4 Men.

Gino Lupari, the group's God of the Bodhran and comedian, also provides vocals. He is the heart and soul of this band.

Kevin Doherty brings a country influence to the band with his song writing and guitar playing. He provided a song and backing vocals for The Band on their album "Jubilation".

Van Morrison guitarist Arty McGlynn is often a guest and produced their first album, Barking Mad which won the Folk Roots Album of the Year, the first time that an Irish group has won this award.
