About the event

In all the years we have been doing these concerts, this band is right up there with the top...

Lunasa has sold over a quarter of a million records; they have won multiple awards and become one of the most influential bands in the history of traditional music with high-profile concerts at The Hollywood Bowl, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Glastonbury Festival and Bercy Arena Paris.

Trevor Hutchinson achieved fame as the bassist with the The Waterboys: Uilleann Piper Cillian Vallely was a member of Riverdance and recorded with Bruce Springsteen. Flute player Kevin Crawford is considered one of Ireland’s greatest flute players and has to be the funniest guy I’ve ever seen on stage.

Colin Farrell is a multiple award winning fiddler and guitarist Ed Boyd made a name for himself in the UK folk scene with bands such as Flook, Kate Rusby, and Cara Dillon.

New York Times “This is the hottest Irish acoustic group on the planet”

The Washington Post     “Dazzling”

Songlines   “… altogether spellbinding. Unique among traditional bands, Lúnasa does not have a vocalist –their music is an exciting mix of fiddle, flute, bass, guitar, uilleann pipes and whistles…..and the hilarious front man Kevin Crawford”

“Folk Roots An Irish music dream team”

Boston Herald (USA)    ‘Lúnasa reigns as the new Celtic royalty’

Irish Voice (USA) “The hottest Irish acoustic group on the planet.”

Dominion Post (NZ)   “an incredible gig, flawless musician.”

The Australian   “…. simply irresistible.”

IrishTimes   “…only a corpse could resist the temptation to get lost in the glorious freefall of it”

MOJO (UK)  ‘The New Gods of Irish Music”

Billboard (USA)  “Anybody who listens can’t help but find them contagious.”

The Irish Examiner “one of Ireland’s most highly-acclaimed interpreters of the genre...”

Hot Press{Ireland] “Exhilarating …”

The Irish Echo ”The best Irish traditional instrumental band on the planet.”

Sydney Morning Herald  “Don’t miss them.”

BBC Radio

“…the air is full of dancing notes as Lúnasa powerhouse through a phenomenal set: complex tempo changes, melodic string riots, demon fiddling, the fluid swing of flute and pipes, punctuated by hilarious asides from flautist/frontman Kevin Crawford (a man who can tell the most appalling fibs with the straightest face) … Just when you think the music can't get any more inventive or crank up another notch, it does…..and the lads continue playing for a delighted audience.”
